Its probably a case of not expanding quick enough. As a general rule you want your expansion down by 10 minutes AT THE LATEST. Once it is down start teching to colosus and get a good amount of those. Grab your third before 15 minutes and another expansion after that. Just keep adding on warpgates or more stuff as your money gets high.
4 production facilities=1 fully saturated base. so 3gates 1 robo or 3gates 1 stargate or 4gates per base.
lol damnit that's another problem I have - if I open with 4 gate, I have only 4 gates for the whole game lololol
