people keep saying oil, oil, oil. i've spent 2 years and some change in Iraq during different parts of the "occupation" and i never once saw any kind of oil infrastructure being built. i've met hundreds of civilian contractors at all levels. plumbers, electricians, field sanitation experts, commo guys, network experts, medical guys, logistics, pilots... -the list goes on and on. the only person i've never met was anyone who had anything to do with oil infrastructure. spent time in bagdhad, tikrit, mozul, kirkuk, and al asad. never met a single person with any kind of oil-related job.
Theoretically the oil access would be in the form of a diplomatically beneficial Iraqi puppet government, and not directly accessed by the US..rather, sold to us cheaply by the friendly government we helped install.
Which is utterly retarded in my opinion. Oil is bought and sold on a global market, it's not like Iraq oil is cheaper than Canada oil or Mexico oil...it's a global market.
