I've been blessed with large enough veins that nurses never have to keep poking me to find one. That said, I always look straight ahead and try not to think about the needle going into my arm. This is one reason why I could never get addicted to heroin.
Can shots hurt more or less depending on what the type of vaccination is? I remember getting an MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) vaccine. That shit hurt...it felt like the needle was scraping my bones. At the same time, most other vaccines I've received haven't been particularly memorable in terms of pain. I know when people get rabies shots they are supposed to hurt like a bitch.
