I don't pirate DLCs, but I have no compunction against pirating "exclusive" content such as the bonus packs for New Vegas, because that shit is illegal anyway (violation of antitrust law that no one is willing or able to challenge).
I pirate only if there are no alternatives available (Japanese SFC games) or if I feel I have some reason to do so.
Example: I worked for a German expatriate for a few years archiving his family records on digital media.
A lot of the material was extremely interesting, such as the personal narrative of a German-Jewish army officer who was present at the First Battle of the Marne, and, writing in the 1920s, blamed the aristocratic military leadership for the defeat and said that Germany wasn't ready for democracy and needed some sort of authoritarian government. The army officer's manuscript was never printed despite being nearly complete. After the change in government, he was mailed a medal by Hitler for conspicuous service during the war, and, two weeks later, was sent to a death camp. Another narrative was the firsthand account of a Prussian-Jewish war purveyor and spy who espoused the cultural superiority of the Germans and the cowardly and grasping nature of the French, as perceived from his activities in the Franco-Prussian War. Another narrative consisted of a Jewish banker's perceptions of Bismarck and Wilhelm I during a business luncheon - Bismarck, the man who enfranchised the German Jews, refused to acknowledge him or make eye contact. Shades of Richard Nixon and black people (and Jews).
I wasn't allowed to take a copy of all this for myself, but when the old German dude went out for a few minutes, I hastily made an extra set of discs for myself and smuggled them out in my cargo pants. I did this without the intent to distribute them, at least not in the foreseeable future, because I felt that it would be of value to posterity and my own knowledge to have an additional copy in my hands. I still have them, as a matter of fact.
When Wowhead created a subscription service, I signed up, because I believe sub-based services are superior to advert-supported service, and I felt their service was high-quality and deserved my $3 a month. I also have licenses for WindowBlinds and VirtualCD, because I think those programs are really good.
