I always get a kick out of the RIAA when they say "think about the artists!". There's some huge online petition that's going around that I signed, but I'm too lazy to look up the link.

but they need more money!

saw some interview with the devs of the witcher 2 and their take on piracy, and the number of times the game has been pirated according to them is such a high level of bullshit that i laughed for about 5 minutes.

It's free speech versus free beer, with this being the latter. No one questions using force to shut down a manufacturer of counterfeit merchandise or stop plagiarism or whatever. This is merely enforcement of the law. The alternative is to allow people to break it, and that is ultimately the real motive for the opposition.

I think most people here are not lockstep with any "label," like libertarian, democrat, etc.

every group I identify with has at least one belief I don't agree with, and I'm sure all of you are the same.

Libertarians: Forever naiive.

I'll take naive/ignorant over belligerently stupid/asinine, it seems like a pretty good trade-off.

Would you rather be a goat or an ox? Which is made to bear the greater burden?
