I just read about this "project".

I think it's the most insane thing I've ever heard.

Donating money for a commercial product that may or may not be released and may or may not cost money to buy without any expectation of return on your investment.

So basically, it's an IPO, without getting stock in exchange for your money.
It is literally, "take my money please."

And yet people are lining up to do this because the video game industry is such a swamp of banal irrelevance and clueless mismanagement that people are desperate for an alternative to the status quo.

So the question becomes: if business investors are so bad, then why don't these devs just sell stocks to household investors?

The reason is...they don't sell stock...because they don't need to.
There are now a lot of people so stupid they will knowingly pay for literally nothing.

The "me" generation bottle-fed on the bizarre monopolar ideas that pass for culture these days and with no understanding of how the world really works is beginning to exert their first influence on the decision-making process.

And we're seeing just how fucking stupid this generation is.

They are so fucking stupid that they buy the KONY kits and give these devs money where former generations would write letters to their politicians or demand something tangible for their money...like stock. They are like sheep begging to be shorn.

Aestu of Bleeding Hollow...

Nihilism is a copout.

people are only doing it because tim schafer did it a month or so ago and now is everybody elses chance to get in on it.

i don't really care about it. if the devs doing these projects actually listen to the people that donated (on some forum or something) and it makes for a better game, sure. the alternative is to pay $60 for a game, probably a bad one knowing the current state, and then paying more the day it's released for DLC.

i realize nobody has sold day one DLC that is such a crucial part of the game you can't live without it, but at the rate it's going now, it'll be that way by the end of the year.
