Is there a reason we're avoiding the names of these books?

"Ok we aren't such things and birds are pretty advanced. They fly and shit from anywhere they want. While we sit on our automatic toilets, they're shitting on people and my car while a cool breeze tickles their anus. That's the life."

Had a really shitty and unsettling dream Thursday night napping prior to my shift. The basic idea was such that the setting was a swimming pool in the basement of a building, possibly a YMCA or something. I was not present, though I was witnessing the events from a sort of out of body perspective..third person I guess. It didn't involve anyone I knew, didn't involve anyone I recognized.

All I can really recall is that there was some disaster that occurred which caused a cave in, and during rescue efforts someone offered to allow someone else to go first in a basket / line type rescue device. The last thing I remember before the dream ended was that this person was the last person left, and they casually said something to the effect of 'You go ahead, they'll be back for me'

After the last person to be rescued was hoisted out of this hole, some unstable element caused the roof to further collapse. My perspective was weird, and it seemed to shift from the accident victim's and back to the third person periodically.

The words echoed, 'They'll come back for me' followed by 'You'll come back for me, right?' although they weren't spoken words, almost like thoughts. And then another voice came, a different one, and it was again not actually a voice, but rather thoughts. 'They aren't coming back for you'.

It was at this point that the person began screaming in terror, some pipe erupted and the entirety of the pool's contents began rising, pushing this person to the caved in roof with great force. My perspective then shifted out to the next upper level, and the floor / top of the roof of the basement level began getting darker in one particular area..then it sort of formed the outline of a human, and you could tell the person was crushed by being sandwiched between the roof and the rising water which was rising very, very fast due to extreme pressure.

It was then that I woke up..with the words 'They aren't coming back for you' echoing repeatedly as I became conscious again.

Shit was weird, and very unsettling.

I saw the link, and that's creepy as all hell. What's the 'nope' for?

Oh right. Yeah. It reminds me of some Final Destination type shit, my dream..

The creepiest part was the thought-voice. I could seriously just feel the subject's absolute and total despair. It was one of those 'had-to-be-there' kinda dreams. Where the details are hazy and don't make sense and don't translate to reality as clearly as they were in the dream.

Edit: in b4 inevitable Tehra appearance

So, I shook down the Persian dude for a letter of rec:

Quote:
I would be glad to write a letter of recommendation...however, as your field of interest is either sciences or accounting my recommendation would not hold that much weight. You would be so much better off if you had recommendations from people in those fields and especially from people who have had you in the last year or two. Employers would also be helpful in recommendations as they can attest to your hard work and dedication.
Best wishes for your application. I know you will be successful in any field that you undertake.

Meanwhile, from the Greek professor:

Quote:
So, do I think that undertaking a classics research project is a good idea?
Only if it interests you for its own sake, or if you want to use it as a means of honing certain skills or disciplines that matter to you. I don't think it's worth doing if you are doing it primarily in the hope of getting..some other potential employer's...goodwill.

"..."

Irony is a beautiful thing.

As I have often said, this sort of thing is not new to me and it's why I get angry when praised. Regardless, I am, materially, getting what I want. I will write a clever response to the first and I'll have the pieces I need for the next step in the process. I missed talking to Fanta, have to go do that.
