The management handbook has been a constant source of laughs before bed for the last week. The scary thing is how true it is to some of my partners' way of thinking.

Thank you, but please no more. I'm starting to chafe badly.

It has been my experience in the corporate world that people who end up in middle management are there precisely because they have no idea what they're doing and their jobs are almost completely superfluous. It's like they're just there in case someone needs to be fired for something. People who are competent and productive generally aren't moved into management because companies need to keep them where they are so things continue to get done, so instead they promote the dead weight to 1) get them out of the way and 2) make room for what is hopefully another useful employee.
