I heard that the hobbit itself is 2 movies long and the third part of the trilogy is a tie-in to the lord of the rings movies.
EDIT: Dwarfs are my favorite part of LotR, so this is by default my favorite movie. I also stopped taking it seriously about the time that the Brown Wizard came into play, and it only became infinitely better from there.
