On-topic, I've found that acting a bit more conceited and aggressive than I typically am (not much, unless I'm driving or pushing through a crowd) helps a lot.

Agreed, but I think there is a small window of time in which you can jump out of the friend zone. Probably a day or two within meeting them.

Love is, unfortunately or not, a game of "he who cares the least wins." Think about all the times you were really trying for a chick, and she bags ass, compared to all the times you've just been done with a girl and she won't go the fuck away. If you don't want her, to her that's a signal to try harder, if you're going out of your way, it's too easy for her and she's bored with you. Get with the program, gents.
