I've gone about 2 years now working with a massive brick oven without getting any mark leaving burns.

But yeah, burns are probably the worst in terms of pain.

Considering this is the first major injury I've had while cooking, I think once every 6 years is a pretty good track record.

Then on a weekend afternoon take multiple pills and feel an amazing body high.

I can't tell you how many times I have grabbed a pan while it was still smoking hot. I once pulled one out of the over and sat it down before I realized I had done it. My chief watched me do it, and we briefly argued over whether it was dumber of me to forget potholders or of him to watch me do that and not say anything. It blistered a little bit.

I don't think I could do that now. My hands were definitely a lot tougher when I was burning little bits of them on something every other day.
