Oh and your music selections are teh poopay, but it's not the genre's fault. Most music is packaged to sell to the widest possible audience of the chosen genre, so it all starts to sound the same. This is to say nothing of the formulaic nature of music produced in the last 50 years.
Imho, you really have to get lucky and find someone who's music you like, read up on them and see who they think is interesting, and then listen to those people, agree or disagree and jump back to step 2 if you want to find anything memorable.
