All the places to eat in that area are rather pretentious like that.
Though mcloon's has some sick appetizers. The chicken wing sumpling things are stellar.
I would definitely suggest Brickwall in Asbury Park, the Court Jester in Freehold, and the Dublin House in Red Bank. All great food and the added bonus of an awesome beer list
