Au contraire, everyone cool likes Canada, and its only real drawback is Quadtard. I didn't see the original message but I imagine it's something to the effect of congratulating Canada for dinging another year.

I don't know if you chaps celebrate with beer and barbecues the way we do, but I never got used to Canadian beer (lack of trying) and I don't know if it's unfrozen enough for you to break out the grills, but pip pip cheerio all the same!

Just now - about five minutes ago...

I walked up to the stairs of the UMB Library to do research about a topic while intermittently monologuing on the forums.

Walking along, I caught sight of a shiny American penny. Good luck - and one more cent towards buying a spare candy bar, or rounding off change so I could get more quarters and fewer small coints back at cashiers! I picked it up.

Kneeling to pick up the American penny, I caught sight of a second penny - dull brown. I picked up as well. The reverse side was facing upwards, featuring the infamous Canadian maple leaf, and all the White House-burning, seal-clubbing, milk-bagging, arboreal vampirism it stood for.

Turning it over, I saw the date: 1942. The Roman Latin inscription read: GEORGIVS VI D.G. REX ET IND. IMP. - George VI, King by the grace of God, and Emperor of India

I was surprised by the reasonably good condition of the coin. It appeared as if it had been exposed to brutally hot, dry and abrasive conditions - there was no greening, and the outlines of the coin's features were starkly defined. I put it in my coin purse; maybe I will have to use it for a quest or something.

I wondered how the 68-year-old Canadian penny came to be laying in a well-trafficked area on the Boston campus.

I plugged in my laptop and read this thread, and wrote a response.

TLDR version: Canadians need to stop dumping their old pennies with stuck-up Latin inscriptions on American college campuses.

Aestu of Bleeding Hollow...

Nihilism is a copout.

as someone who was born 234 minutes after midnight, i find this year's 234th birthday of the country born in the year (888*2) to be more alluring.

it's also the 185th day of the year. that's my extension at work. :)

fireworks? we don't need no fireworks. beer? yes, i'll take that.

ps: yeah aestu, "funny" how a coin from '42 shows up in your path, with a dragonslayer adorning it. just like your 137th mount was a phoenix ;)

I have a man purse too.

It contains:

Wallet
Lighter
Gandalf (my pipe)
Tobaccy
Utility Knife
Cell Phone + Charger
Aspirin
Bottle Opener (because the utility knife one sucks)
Pit Spray
Chapstick
Bandage + Med Tape

It's actually a leather grooming kit bag. Like this:

Someone called it a clutch. Which seems to be a word used for actual purses.

Too bad, cause I like that word. It's a manly word.

Like "tow truck" and "cornhole".

It's generally in my car.

I pick necessary things out of it and put them in pockets.

ALWAYS PREPARED
