The premise that productivity was the factor causally responsible for ending the Great Depression is a necessary corollary of the proof, which is that were the regulation that abounded removed as a factor, productivity would have grown more.

But there are no facts to support that necessary corollary independent of the proof. There is no reason to believe that productivity would have changed according to these projections had that regulation been removed, because the causal relationship hasn't been proven independent of that corollary.

Therefore, the article is a piece of circular logic.

However, facts and reasoning external to the article - that the Depression was caused in large part by massive increases in productivity and huge surpluses that piled up with no market (see: the Grapes of Wrath and literally dumping food in the American River), and that the Depression finally ended when there was an outlet for those massive surpluses first in war production and later in exports to Europe and the former colonies - suggest that the article in fact turns reality on its head to suit an ideological viewpoint.

There is also the fact that - all other things being equal - there is an inverse correlation between employment and productivity. See: Benito Mussolini (contemporary source), on the causes of unemployment. This correlation cannot be reconciled with the premise that productivity growth INCREASED employment.

Cliff Notes:
-Increase in productivity driven by capital investment
-Capital investment supported by loans
-Productivity growth exceeds market growth, resulting in goods sold below cost or simply dumped in the river
-Unsold goods result in firms failing, and thus investors being unable to pay back loans
-Inability to sell goods and pay back loans results in stock market crash and bank runs, in turn triggering the Great Depression
-Great Depression ends as a result of wage growth driven by regulation, artificial demand, war production and new markets

There are plenty of whites who dislike Obama because they are racist fucks. I'm sure there are more who dislike him because of his policies.

If you consider it, it works both ways. We have had only a handful of black Presidential candidates, and none have ever won the nomination. Coincidentally, African American voter turnout is disproportionately lower than white voter turnout.
