Reminds me of when I walked into my first naxx25 and got [item]40402[/item].

inferior weapon for a warrior. second run? [item]40400[/item]
I remember you talking about that.
I still say Broken Promise was better for threat gen/damage and it looked way cooler. Not to mention the old debate about faster attacks causing the boss to parry.
I was a pretty noob tank so correct me if I'm wrong.
Broken Promise was the only slow wrath tanking weapon in the game. It's higher damage allowed for bigger Deep Wounds ticks as well as bigger Devastates and Heroic Strikes/Cleaves.
Though perhaps we had this conversation and the argument for a faster weapon was more Heroic Strikes and supposed greater threat. I think it was all a matter of preference and I think hands down Broken Promise was a superior weapon if even only against AoE pulls (Deep Wound procs from Thunder Claplol).
At the end of the day Broken Promise is still my favorite tanking weapon and I was more than happy to get it on my first run. I still use it, shit.
Not sure about now but I would think that a slow tanking weapon is even better now with Heroic Strike and Cleave being instant casts.
Back then, the HS dump allowed for higher dps. Top end for devastate (a filler move post-5 sunders) + slightly higher deep wound ticks vs every melee swing. Everyone had their preference, of course.
