Let me ask you this:

How many successful, or "great", people, AREN'T pompous, arrogant tools? Honestly, how many people in a history book do you think you could be "chums" with, or weren't convinced beyond all reason that they were way smarter than everyone around them? Have you met any executives lately?

Do you really think chuminess and humility are a measure of potential?

There's people who think they're great and actually ARE great, and then there's people who think they're great and actually are just aestu.

I just bumped a thread where I was called stupid, pompous, whatever, only to be proven right in the end.

Being proven right "in the end" is not new to me. I feel I have good basis upon which to second-guess others' opinions in the here and now because I have done so often in the past.

Are you implying that pomposity is a disqualifying condition for success?

Well no, because I don't think you're a success.

To be pompous, to me, is to have an overinflated view of yourself, and a desire to shovel that view all over everyone around you.

Calling YOU pompous is dead-fucking-on.

So to clarify, you just stated in order to be successful you must also be an arrogant fool?

Aestu: Napoleon! I'm a great fan of yours! Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Aestu and I'm a level 85 paladin in world of Warcraft. I have over 12000 achievement points and 160+ mounts and I'm also arrogant as fuck!

Napoleon: Excellent. You and I shall do along splendidly. I am appointing you commander of my western army.

That's awesome, now I know who can book bands for the Mos Eisley Cantina. Azelma, your background in music will prove very useful in our nonexistent Jedi Conquest!

My opinion of your intelligence, knowledge and general functioning is defined by the breadth of knowledge and critical thinking skills I see you display. You've never mentioned anything you've ever read (in fact you keep steering away from that line of questioning), and you have poor critical thinking skills (you persist in lines of reasoning even after they've been debunked and can't see obvious contradictions in your claims). You consistently indicate that you think splitting the difference is a virtue. People form solid impressions by listening to others talk and expressing oneself in writing is at least as good a basis on which to judge.

What this thread was about was a fictional universe where everyone has been forced to be "equal". The human fault that drives that fictional universe - pusillanimity - is a real one, and dealing with it is part of day to day life - accepting the inequity in merit between individuals.

I don't have a "problem" with you not having my strengths.
You seem to have a problem with being seen as "not equal to or greater than".

EDIT: Throw it at you this way. Why so reluctant to entertain the possibility that - maybe - I am generally more intelligent, knowledgeable and creative than you are? Why reject the notion out-of-hand, or regard it as inherently offensive?

Have I ever denied I'm arrogant, domineering, conceited, megalomanical, cold, vain, vindictive or cruel? I've never claimed to be perfect...but you seem awful reluctant to attribute any but the most vague and non-specific faults to yourself, and break out in hives whenever those faults might be brought into tighter focus.

Arrogance, conceit, hubris and narcissism generally imply unwarranted belief of superiority.

Unwarranted.

Waiting on Aestu to tell me everything I don't know about myself as well.

Don't worry, there's no chance of you ever being smart.

Zaryi mentioned you blame everything on your parents, I can see how she might have gotten that impression.

I also don't accept this, ever. Parents have children. Children are their responsibility, forever. It doesn't matter how early or late you end up supporting yourself, they're the only reason you exist, and the burden is entirely on them.

It's not something that should be taken advantage of, necessarily, but it's also an absolute fact. Don't want to be a life-long lifeline? Don't fucking reproduce.

For the record, I'm getting really tired of each and every thread getting Aestu'd, me yelling, everything being fine for a week or two, and then the whole cycle starting all over again.
