Ron Paul is WIN.

History of being right on the economy, history of consistency, as an MD delivered 4,000 babies, served in Vietnam as a flight surgeon actually saving lives, married for what- 50 years with 17 grand kids, can't be blackmailed and lobbyists can't touch him.

If you have to call someone crazy because you can't have a dialogue or disagreement on philosophy, that would be an issue with you, NOT Ron Paul.

He has kicked ass in every GOP debate this year, not every question was answered perfectly, but he's tearing up the competition. Here's to hoping our country won't go far in debt that it falls like previous empires, before someone as honest as Ron Paul gets elected.

Also, Ron Paul is the only candidate who has not just proposed a plan, but a plan that includes cutting the presidential salary to match the average salary of americans. Maybe you're right, it IS the crazy ones- who change the world for the better.

from Ronpaul2012.com:

"President Paul will take a salary of $39,336, approximately equal to the median personal income of the American worker."

The medical community is supposed to be one of professionals. This means that you should not be bringing your unreasonable beliefs to work with you. However, Ron Paul does, and it is annoying. He specifically does so with stem cell research and abortion.

Just today, I heard that stem cells have successfully repaired a patient's dying heart. Most of you know that cardiac cells are one of the few cells that do not regenerate. With the help of fully-pluripotent stem cells, this patient will now live longer.

Stem cell research 1, naysayers 0.

Similarly, he is against legalized abortion. Okay look - if you don't want to get an abortion because YOU believe that it's "murder" the don't get one! But keep your nose in your own business. My mom grew up in a fairly strict Muslim home and it was not until she went to England and became a doctor that she realized the unnecessary limits that religious beliefs put on the progression of humanity. They are best left out of the professional scene.

This is why I think he should not be anywhere near a doctor's office, let alone the president's office.

/end rant

I thought collapsing economies, high unemployment, record high deficits/unsustainable spending and foreign policy would've been the forefront issues this upcoming election... not stem cells.

Anyways, he's 'Pro Life' but he's not going to push for some US Constitutional amendment to outlaw abortion. Ron Paul has always said that he thinks abortion is a state issue where each state should legislate their own solution, whether it be to legalize or whatever else. IIRC, he had a similar position on the harvesting of stem cells where it's a state issue.

The fact that abortion and same sex marriage are even campaign issues (given the current problems we face) shows how truly fucked up this country and the entire political process is.

Yeah, same sex marriage totally didn't get Bush reelected in '04 or anything.

In other words, according to Ron Paul, only the rich (who can pay job and lifestyle-related costs of living out of pocket) should be President.

This shows why this man should never be President. It's a stunt plain and simple. No one who has ever held the office of President got paid a fraction of what he could have made doing any of the other things he could have been doing.

You're aware that only the rich can be president in this current system, right?

If you can't afford to campaign you can't be president.

I guess if you were crazy poor but somehow were able to get everyone and their mother to donate you could still run...but in reality, only the rich can be president. Sad as it is.

Yea, you do need to be rich but I don't think that's exactly why Ron Paul is going to cut his own salary. He's been a huge proponent for lower spending (which would enable lower taxation and lower revenues) and his plan hopes to shave 1T from the annual budget by returning some of the Federal roles to the states.

Also, let's be real - the President doesn't need a 400K/yr salary since major expenses like food, security, lodging and transportation are covered by tax dollars. The President also gets an untaxed expense account which he can use for other job-related items like clothing. I guess the only true expenses the President has to cover would be through leisure and personal expenses (like pre-presidential homes and property)... but I have a feeling a lot of companies and/or resorts would be very generous in discounts and gifts for leisure, at least.

You're right, it would be great for this country if some burger flipper from mcdonald's somehow got elected.

I'd take him over the trust fund baby who's never worked a day in his life.

I wouldn't. If you're at least 35 and still working at mcdonald's, you probably don't even KNOW anyone who could advise you on leadership.

not that any trust fund babies ever ran for office though. its ok mayo, we know you hate rich people cuz you're not one.
