I like those kind of zombies. I love zombie movies/books/etc, but I always liked them for the societal aspect and not so much the gory zombie murder aspect. While the movies are alright, I would strongly suggest looking into literature.
World War Z is the best thing I've read about zombies and that's almost a universal opinion. There are also a number of short story compilations, with
John Skipp's Zombies being one of the best. Zombies has a good variety of short stories, some being the apoc type and some the single zombie or just "back from the dead but not as a zombie" type of stories that existed before the current zombie craze (there's a good story about what became of Lazarus after being brought back from hell).
As for movies, my favorite is still probably the original Night of the Living Dead. I remember watching that as a kid over and over.
