Well she's younger than I normally go for, and I've never been into a woman who's into women before. But there was a surprising amount of chemistry there.

i've only known three girls who said they were lesbians, not bisexual, and one's married to a guy and another is dating one.

My thoughts exactly. I think it's extremely arrogant that you think you have females all figured out, yet you speak of buying a harem for yourself.

Which applies to you? At this time, I don't think any of the three are true.

You don't have money, looks or personality. These are most probably the most sought after qualities that humans use to determine initial opinions of another human as far as relationships, whether serious or strictly sexual are concerned.

I don't claim to know everything or even a small bit of what makes females tick. I will say personality goes a long way, citing words from many females I know and have talked to.

'Hi I'm rich and speak Latin and you're a bar slut stripping on weekends to pay for your education, wanna come back to my place?'

Will only get you so far. And by far mean slapped, restraining order and potential sexual harassment claims if it's within her power to do so.


You have a lot to learn, and you'd do well to start by respecting females and talking to them on a personal level before giving someone else advice who already does these things, in this case Usd.

This is funny because it's a situation I've found myself in recently. There's this girl I met who is great to hang out with, very similar to me, and I value her friendship. Unfortunately, she likes me as more than a friend, and our mutual friends have been relentlessly pressuring me to "make a move"

Well, at a party on Saturday I finally informed her that, though I think she's great, we should just remain friends (I will admit when I have been drunk I've flirted with her a bit).

Anyway, it seems that it is working out...though now there's an awkward tension. It could be in my head, or it could be real. I don't like breaking girls hearts =/


Anyway, my question is...is it possible for men and women to ever truly be platonic friends? I feel like sex always gets in the way unless the woman is absolutely hideous.

I fail to see how my not being a libertarian or my not being opposed to birth control has anything to do with this thread.

I'll say it one more time for you, Tuhl, and anyone else that needs to hear it.

I am a nonaffiliated voter. I have never cast a vote for a Libertarian in any election. I'd prefer not to be lumped in with libertarians in your straw men simply because while I do agree with a great many ideas and concepts of liberal origin, I don't agree with every last talking point or stance.

I don't think I've ever said anything against birth control either. I'm a staunch advocate of abolishing abstinence only education and having condoms readily available to anyone that is sexually active.

Can we move on now?

I don't think any demographic deserves the respect of another person simply for existing as an extension of that population.

I have witnessed you make ridiculous generalizations about females many times.

I don't have to be Casanova to give the most basic relationship advice ever.

If you respect women as a whole and then deduct people from that as needed, you will get much farther than if you distrust and generalize the entirety of females and then gradually trust, respect and accept them.

What's it to me? You're obviously very smart in certain ways. You have a grasp on history and language that few others can claim. You are highly analytical and you have a lot of interesting stories and anecdotes that I honestly enjoy reading. You value the small things that often go unnoticed or unappreciated in the busy modern world, such as the fish hatchery in Sacramento and the old oil lamp you wrote of once. You dance to a different drum, which is oftentimes mistaken as a bad thing. It's not, and you honestly don't need to buy a harem or look like an underwear model or be outgoing and extroverted who can move from group to group and be everyone's friend to pursue relationships.

You're selling yourself short. All of this is true, and you look like a tool when you write about how you have women figured out, or the solution to education, or whatever the case may be.

There's a pretty big difference between making 'stay in the kitchen' jokes in jest and actually viewing people as beneath you or whatever simply for having a vagina.

It sounds to me like you are trying to counterbalance a robust perception of my strengths by inflating my shortcomings.

I don't devalue women. Women devalue women. Most young women choose to put the vag as their first foot forward, if not literally then by extension, and that's their doing, not mine. Most young women (and women of all ages, really) expect unreasonable prerogatives based on their appearance, gender and sex appeal.

Demanding such prerogatives implies either a lack of common sense or a belief in one's inferiority. I err more towards the former interpretation, but either way it adds up to the same thing which is that such behavior invites contempt. Ultimately, I blame society.

The best way to circumvent those prerogatives and the liability they represent is to simply refuse to play ball. Hence the notion of a harem.
