There are all different types of players though.
The number one factor should be similar objectives. Player skill, gear, raid times, etc all of those are of secondary importance.
Casuals will not do well in a guild oriented towards server firsts, and players with a drive to be competitive in pve will not be happy in a casual guild. Same goes for players who prefer pve over pvp and vice versa.
I agree that we don't share objectives but I don't agree that's a problem with everyone being under the same roof. I think dissimilar players in the same guild creates synergy, and I also firmly believe that was one of the reasons that, contrary to popular belief, Vanilla was successful: Vanilla was, in its own way, the most casual expansion ever.
It would mean that the guild would have to recruit massively to fulfill any/all of its objectives, though, diffusing and diluting the FUBU influence. I don't see that as a problem. More friends are good!
That's a good point, and for a while I had been mulling over the idea of the (relatively) new raid lockout changes, where instead of being locked to an ID, you are locked out to a specific boss.
I think one thing that might be worth looking into would be a 10 man raiding guild with it's core being comprised of FUBU members, though we'd have an application and remain open to transfers as well as other players on the server.
My thinking was that if we over recruited for a 10 man guild, yet had a clause that required people to have one alt of a different role, we could have 3 or 4 different raid times which would make raiding something you do because you enjoy it and want to, not a chore that you log on for and then log off. For example, I work overnight shift, Usd will be required to work a variety of shifts, Azelma might be stuck on a bus somewhere, etc.
All the exact details would be worked out, though this would also let people raid with a variety of people, some of whom would vary by week and even by raid.
I'd resub for this, honestly.
