The recent posts about MoP professions were *yet another* new low. Absolutely soporific.

Exact copy of the dragonling, scopes, gem cuts, etc, currently in-game, tuned for 85. And a new tailoring cooldown just like Mooncloth and its successors except that it doesn't even award cloth, only a skill point.

I was actually really surprised that Blizzard didn't even pretend to offer anything new so far as professions go. Deer-in-headlights at its finest.

Oh, except for...cooking specializations. Except it's not even really a specialization because one can max out all trees. So really it's just a list of recipes, broken into arbitrary categories, no different that JCs "specializing" in yellow, red or meta gems. Even the names of the specializations are lame - methods of preparation instead of cuisines.

Professions are arguably the most wanting aspect of WoW - the sub-game that has lost the greatest part of its appeal since Vanilla - but Blizzard just doesn't get it. They are too fearful of rocking a leaky boat or pissing off the hordes of mindless kids who are way too stupid to do anything more complicated than buy stacks of elementium and volatiles and make their BoE blue set.
