This thread is a circle-jerk, pure and simple.
It was pretty civil, honestly. Still is.
You could all be wearing monocles and quoting Chaucer. Doesn't make it any less of a circle-jerk.
I see now what you meant with that phrasing.
I was initially going to start arguing with you, but you've actually given me an opportunity to demonstrate an important point.
'Circle jerk' bashing women is no better than when women that claim to advocate feminism just bash men.
You can't condemn the same offenses you commit.
Aestu, equality IS the ultimate goal. Where people are treated equally regardless of internal plumbing / pigment/ whatever.
People are not 100% equal, however. This needs to be noted and respected as a simple truth of life. Men and women are equal in the same way all human beings are equal. We all have basic rights and expectations of these rights. They can be poorly defined, depending who you ask, some people have different ideas of what rights should be guaranteed and which 'rights' should not qualify as rights.
In the United States, it is generally accepted among most people that everyone have the same basic rights regardless of gender or nationality.
The line gets blurry when certain groups are granted additional rights in an effort to level the playing field.
I'm honestly of the belief that you can't force people into social progression. We can make laws, and force people to abide by them, but the mentality of resentment will still exist within.
There are females who want equality among human beings, regardless of gender. There are females that want to feign outrage and play victim every opportunity they get. There are some that are simply so delusional they literally view men as lesser humans to an extent.
Some males want equality regardless of gender and nationality. Some males think men are victims of oppression, and some treat women like sex objects and believe they are inferior, lesser humans.
Men and women are NOT equal. Our physiological structuring is different, as are our emotional and intellectual wiring.
The media definitely plays this issue from both sides. Case in point: Home Improvement with Tim Allen. Men are constantly viewed as beer guzzling gorillas in tv sitcoms and as a result, have adapted to fit this societal mold imposed upon them. Intellectualism among men is widely discouraged, as is emotional self-awareness.
The issue is not as simple as some would make it. Both sides have good people and both sides have people with ulterior motives, only in it for their own selfish desires, short term thinking..
The media, as always, plays people for fools and pits faction against faction, special interest group against special interest group. There is a very carefully maintained public perception of what men and women are 'supposed to be like', and the media exploits the hell out of this and perpetuates it to no end.
