I completely agree. Clubs seem like hell. I'm still jealous though. Being envious of things that I wouldn't even enjoy makes me have a lot of self-loathing, and I wouldn't want to come off as churlish, so I didn't volunteer that although it was my first thought.

Clubs are poop. Small gatherings in a club like setting, much better.

I work in the bar scene. I get in free at clubs and sometimes get to drunk for free.

And I still only go to clubs when I'm bringing a girl with me.

When you were our age, apparently the music was soft enough that you could hold conversations.

I kind of like goth clubs, but then again I like goth chicks and they're never as crowded. In Manhattan? There'll be a crowd no matter what.

I understand the concerns. I have the fortune of not needing to worry about expenditures on this trip and I don't feel like drinking too much at the club myself so I should be able to keep my costs relatively low anyways at the club. As far as liking clubs to me they definitely have their pluses and minuses. If I want to hold long conversations etc. then they are not the right place. However, for this date, I am perfectly fine with grinding and making out for the final 3-4 hours of seeing each other. Goth chicks aren't my cup of tea.

Clubs are weird. Too many phonies.

i can't say i've ever taken a date to a club or even considered it because it just seems so tacky. like, the only reason to go to a club is for an easy lay. why even bring a date?

maybe it's different elsewhere.

I haven't either, and yes it's pretty much only for an easy lay. I think this is universal though, no? I's pretty much the same thing in England too, though I like it more there because I have the advantage of an American accent there.
