I'm offended that Dek wouldn't eat with my family.

Rundown of what happened:

Helped Grandma finish cooking.
Ate
Uncles poked fun at my man purse.
We gave sisters BF shit.
Watched some football reruns.
Bullshitting.
Uncles poked fun at my man purse.
Uncle showed his ass.
Took pictures.
Uncle showed his ass.
Bullshitting.
Uncle showed his ass.
Bathrooms destroyed.

The wife and I have been spending the last couple days in the hospital and we'll be here for another week before they induce her for birthingstuffs. She has pre-eclampsia so they need to monitor her closely until she hits the 37 week mark (Dec 2nd) so they can pull my little man out.

We did get a full night of sleep. My inlaws stopped by the hospital room between 11am to 2pm, then my parents switched with them from 2pm to 4pm. Both sets were nice and brought flowers and some other things to keep her busy for the next week. After my parents left I went to WalMart to buy a couple movies so we can watch them later tonight. I also went to cracker barrel to get some Thanksgiving dinner.

Turkey. Ham. Stuffing. Gravy. Green Beans. Mashed Potatoes. Nasty Sweet Potatoes. Corned Bread. Something else? Pumpkin Pie. $8.99 per person. /flex

Not as good as home cookin', tho.

(PS: I'm so backwoods yet I don't have any family that lives in Kentucky or Tennessee, nor do I have any that made a career being all religious and shit... to your credit, he did marry in, I s'pose. Figured I'd let the pot know a bit about the kettle.)

You didn't actually invite me, you said you would if you could.

You weren't one of the three.

I just had a simple Thanksgiving with my mom and step-dad.

Just Turkey, stuffing, potatoes, gravy, and some vegetable stuff.

Oh, and killer fucking pie.

So this year marked a major change to Thanksgiving. It wasn't at my grandparents' house, but many elements of "normal" thanksgiving remained. After 28 years of attending thanksgiving events, I actually had to travel more than 2 miles for this one. Ugh, Jersey traffic.

Antipasta (uh.... scallops with bacon, sopressata, stuffed peppers, stuffed olives, fresh mozzarella, provolone, shrimp, sundried tomatoes, etc)
Deep fried turkey in peanut oil.
Normal turkey.
Stuffing (family recipe involving sausage and chop meat)
Yams
Yams with the marshmallows.
Artichoke mush thingy resembling stuffing.
Stuffed artichokes.
Mushrooms.

various pies (apple, blueberry, pecan pie [with chocolate and kahlua], pumpkin, lemon meringue, cherry)

oh, beer, wine, and patron cafe.

Eturnal~ Good luck to you and your wife! One of my girlfriends just had her baby at 32 weeks because of preeclampsia.

We went to our church for Thanksgiving today. Everyone brings something and we share an "orphan" Thanksgiving. Oddly, little by little my family signed up and we ended up with 16 family members (my parents, my husband's parents, our siblings and our kids and nephews) at the church's feast. There was tons of food and even more wine :) We had fun ^^

It ended up being wonderful to be around people. I've been surrounded by so much sadness in the past week, it was nice to be around so many joyful faces. :)

Tomorrow we have Thanksgiving with my husband's dad and stepmother and that whole side of the family. Since she is a vegetarian, I will actually get to EAT tomorrow :)

Right, this is about food. I had some kind of soup that was very peppered and tasted great, pretty standard turkey + corn bread, more cakes than you can shake a stick at, some Belgian beer, and like 5 glasses of wine.

After dinner, my dad decided to whip out a bottle of cheap red wine he's had in the cabinet since 2003. We toasted and promptly spat it out, considering that it tasted like (and had the effect of) rubbing alcohol. Being blind is a great way to top off the night!

Garlic mashed potatoes.

Not hard to make, not really a thanksgiving specific dish, but i challenge you to find a better way to prepare potatoes(not counting hashbrowns.)

Depending on who cooks them, regular mashed and baked w/ onion, sour cream, and garlic both outdo garlic mashed.

I mean, my mom can get a few Idaho potatoes, some butter, some salt, and some milk. Shit will blow your mind. Same can be said for the baked potatoes to a lesser extent.
