A ride along sounds like a lot of fun..you're in a damn cop car for christ sakes. Even if all you do is see a routine traffic violation, you still get to play with the sirens and stuff. Sounds like USDK got to see a lot more.
Because people who assume a mantle of superiority and play out their infantile fantasies irl are pussies and worthy of contempt. And it IS a fantasy, just like cosplaying a Naruto character - the only difference is, one is a study in suspension of disbelief while the other is willing self-delusion. If you want to play hero go do something where you can make a difference or face real danger.
Having a morbid obsession with violence is degraded. It reduces one to a lower level of moral worth and intellectual functioning. It reduces one's value as an individual.
I despise this sort of thing because the people who participate are invariably both bullies and cowards. People who are secure in themselves don't need to gratify themselves in such ways. People laugh at Sergeant Schutlz because everyone's someone like that - some overstuffed authoritarian type who hides under the desk when anything substantial happens.
Real men carry their authority with them, they don't need a badge or a gun to feel in control. However you spin it, it's just two very small people playing the role of the cop on South Park.
People who are cowardly are both worthy of contempt and a perennial inconvenience to those of us who are not.
