Warlocks in gear comparable to mine had 6000 health. Just because I could eat people in blues (or greens, if we're talking early enough) for breakfast doesn't mean the class was inherently broken. Fear always existed, and it never broke on damage. The fact that every talentless failure was SM/Ruin because he'd heard somewhere that was the way to go doesn't mean Demo locks didn't exist, and the few non-Demo locks who knew what they were doing (Zerrast and Blissid) were completely incapable of losing any 1v1.

Are you sure you weren't just a terrible warlock?

Weren't?

I had to level twice due to the loss of the first warlock, and perception didn't do much good if you didn't expect a rogue. You might be talking about level 60 content, but I look at the whole picture. Besides, have you seen the # of hks Synth has? Or Tehra?

Anyway. My first warlock was dead by patch 1.4, and I had to relevel from that point. You were 60 by that point.

Quote:
Patch 1.2 12/18/04
Fear: Players now have an increasing chance to break free of the effect, such that it is unlikely the effect will last more than 15 seconds. (nerf)

Patch 1.31 3/22/05
Fear - Mana cost changed to a percentage of base, which results in an increase in cost. (nerf)

Patch 1.41 5/5/05
Seduction (Succubus) - Is now considered a Fear effect for purposes of diminishing returns. (nerf)

Patch 1.50 6/7/05
Warriors: Deathwish - Is now usable while under a Fear effect, and will also remove an existing Fear effect. (nerf)

Patch 1.70 9/22/05
Druids: Druids should now be able to shapeshift back into caster form while Feared. (nerf)

Patch 1.80 10/10/05
Death Coil - Cooldown reduced, mana cost increased, and now causes a short Fear effect that is not diminished. (DC buff - 3 second horror effect, 2 minute cooldown)

So, for 11 months after of initial release, you're talking about warlocks being OP, while warlocks had no way to peel off a rogue or warrior beating on them because by the time you'd almost get the fear off through the pushback, one of their interrupt cooldowns would be back up.

Hookay then. Bear in mind, I only specced soul link in tbc, when I was raiding sunwell on the weekends and dicking around in arena during the week with an equally bad druid, so my experience in the demonology tree is a bit lacking. I didn't play a warlock to tend to pets, but to burn and rise above the flames, pardon me.

That's really on you, buddy. I didn't spec combat daggers to kill people in PvP.

I can't speak for 60 end game, but all while I was leveling locks were always a free kill. Locks I think will forever be a free Rogue kill. BC, Free Kill. WotLK, Free Kill. Cata, somewhat have a chance if the Rogue sucks but are still a free kill. Then again, maybe it's because I'm undead and pre double nerfed WotF was retarded.

@Usd, I ran hemo mace spam before it was cool. Completely unintentionally for different reasons then what happened to workout.
So, Hemo to 50ish, then I got a dagger and went backstab ambush fun fun fun. Also, am I the only one who used the healing mace from Cath because it had the highest top end at that level?

Then at 70 I had to go mut because it was the only way I could compete with all the geared players who were FotM specs which I think was H/AR/P at the time I'm not sure though.

Old Assassination was really fun and I prefered it. Not this gay emphasis on poisons. I also miss my 0/25/46 Ret spec which again pisses me off that Blizzard forced everyone into one talent tree.

tldr: Locks (at least 70+) were and still are a free kill as a rogue otherwise you're doing it wrong. Unless of course maybe being an undead trumps locks ;]

You didn't deboggle. I still don't see how warlocks ever had any grounds on which to complain.

Any word on whether this would apply to hunter pets? Then again I guess that would involve significantly more dev time, since every beast would have to get a separate model made.. but I think it would be cool

All Druid forms are male. Why they would ever put time into warlock pets is way fucking beyond me.

Are you telling me anyone who frequents these boards (other than possibly Laelia) can differentiate a male bear from a female bear? For the record, I agree that giving warlock pets gender options is ridiculous. I just don't see this being a problem for druid forms, either.

It isn't really a problem, just something that happens to be. Like old Horde cat form had a mane. There is so much else Blizzard should be doing, like making that CUSTOM DANCE STUDIO, NEW DANCES HOOOOO they advertised in Wotlk.
