I wasn't thinking of it in the way of an overdose, just from it causing hypertrophy of the heart, since it causes hypertrophy of all muscles (or bros wouldn't use em). Not a fast way to die, but if someone had an underlying heart condition it could easily be exacerbated by a few cycles of steroids.

it's only really the combined use of growth hormone and anabolics simultaneously that causes permanent concentric thickening of the myocardium, which, incidentally is the actual 'bad' form of hypertrophy/hyperplasia, since it reduces stroke volume and cardiac output.

keep in mind that skeletal muscle and cardiac muscle are completely different tissues, with differing amounts of ATP load. if broad spectrum hypertrophy occurred the same with smooth muscle as it does with skeletal muscle, steroid users would be shitting themselves at supersonic speeds.

Gawd damn! My arms are tired as shit after today's workout. A buddy told me when doing reps, you want to increase the amount of weight you do. Started doing that today. 15 minutes of running/jogging on the treadmill then 35-40 with machines/weights. My arms felt so weak after all of it. Turning the steering wheel, applying deodorant, and simple shit like that was hard on the arms. Felt pretty good though!

Going to go to a local store tomorrow to get a protein shake. (The big powder tube, not just a single one.) Any suggestions as to good brands? I'm not a fan of chocolate, which I see is a pretty common flavor. Either way, I'm just looking for a decently tasting protein shake that does what I need it to. (Also, has to be the healthy ones. Someone said they have some that are less healthy for you.)

I dunno shit about powder. I had a 5lb tub of Optimum Nutrition chocolate something because it was on special when i bought some. Wasn't aware there were some which were bad for you. Seems kind of contradictory in a sense o.O If there's truth to that then i'd do some research >_>

The worst i ever heard of was new brand would someetimes have extra shit in them (not sure if roids but other crap which would be banned if you were drug tested in a sport). The idea being you get people hooked on your brand initially since it's giving results (cuz of the junk in it) then you stop putting the shit in it but people keep using it. I doubt that happens much anymore, but who knows (hint: not me).

Can you describe your workout? ie: what movements, reps, sets etc you were doing?

Started off with a Run/Jog for 15 minutes.

*Each rep I do consists of 10*
Then I did dumbbells. I started off with 20 pounds, then 25, then finishing at 30. For all of them I did the same where I would start near my waist, and lift up to get to my shoulder area. (I don't know specific names, that's the best I could describe. Seems almost the default, basic one.)

Next I did a machine where I sat down and extended my legs to panels. The machine had a two handle grasp, and you just pulled back. I started off doing 50, then 60, then 70 pounds.

After that, I did an ab cruncher machine. You just put your arms in a placeholder, and grasp the two pegs sticking out. Your knees rest on a platform that you do for movement. I put 10 pounds on each side, and started off in the middle with both legs on. I did 30 of those, then switched to each side for another 30. You can lift one leg, and turn the platform each way. Each one does something different, so I did 30 of each.

Next was a machine where you put the weights on, and the handlebars were near the face, and you just lifted up towards the ceiling. I did 25 on each side, then added 10, then another 5. So in total, I did 50, 70, 80.

Then I went to the butterfly like machine. It was where you sit down, extend your arms left and right, and pull inside near your chest. I did 50, 60, then 70 again for that machine.

Ending off, I did the machine where their is a knee rest, and a bar that resembles a pull-up bar. You just sit down, and pull it down. The bar was long, and curved downward at the end of both sides. I did 50, 60, and 70 again for that.

Sorry for not knowing what machines are called, or if I did an awful job describing them. Hopefully you can critique what I could be doing better, or what I'm not doing, etc. But that was the general bases of what happened today. Also, I don't do them generally fast. I don't rush through them, I do like 1...2...3...4... instead of just going super speed at it. I think someone told me to do it slower instead of rushing through a rep.

Each rep should be controlled. So that is good. It looks like your lifting focused on the upper body this session. Eventually you will want to work some leg lifts into your routine. Over all sounds like a decent start. The main thing is dedication. Making sure you hit the gym even if you really just want to say fuck it and skip out.

As for protein shake mix. Just find a simple whey protein mix. Read the label to see if there is a bunch of random crap in it you don't really need/want. I generally just buy some cheap stuff from Sam's Club/Costco. I am sure there are brands out there that make claims of "better gains" and other BS, but most of it is just advertising hype.

i buy optimum nutrition 100% whey. most amount of protein + least amount of calories for the cheapest price. also, fuck dumbells for arms. if you want beast-mode arms do what i do.

5 sets x failure of weighted chin-ups supersetted with ez-bar curls.
