I'm more interested in how you went about farming Valan'yr. Like a step-by-step, if you don't mind. I've knocked out Thori'dal, two warglaives, and a half a Thunderfury. Not too interested in the 2h ones at this time, so my next target would be Valan'yr. Any info would help, or I might just wait til Cataclysm lol

Tempest gave me my first two frags, over Skip, because it was clear I'd have the tenacity to finish it and he would not. He also had zero frags at the time. Prior to this, I had given Odyssia his first six frags on a lucky Ulduar run during early T9.

After that, I farmed the next ten or so by hosting Ulduar weeklies right as soon as dailies rolled over. Sometimes I would announce that we would be doing an additional boss before the weekly boss. I also got a few by opportunistically offering to join Ulduar pugs and passing on all loot in exchange for frags.

I was the first person GS sold a Mimiron head in, and after I was asked to stay on, all future frags were passed to me, as most of their healers had maces and mine was by far the furthest in progress by this point. It was smooth sailing past 12 or so. Occasionally I'd take pugs and do optional bosses, or clear it on the occasional week we didn't do Ulduar.

Guide? I'm not sure how to do that. My advice is simply to take advantage of every opportunity available to you. Maybe host an Ironbound run.

Well, I meant more of how to get people to join the runs. BT and Sunwell are easy to find people for because they know it's going to be fast and relatively painless. But Ulduar is a level 80 raid, so what do you offer without draining all your gold? I don't have nearly as much as you do lol

Give them a reason.

Achievements, fun, gold...Find your target audience. Bads who never did Ulduar but want to see it now? People farming for Herald? Enchanters? People who want gold? The terminally bored?

Adjust the expectations of your raid accordingly. If your raid is comprised mostly of curious bads or stupid people who aren't really bored but actually think the pittance offered is worthwhile, don't expect to get past Thorim and Freya. Mimiron is actually easier than either with bads in high end gear. On the other hand, pros who are bored or want recipes can be taken all the way to Yogg.

You will have better luck hosting a pro run with terminally bored people on the weekend or Monday when everyone is saved to everything else.

Also, being a stupidly overpowered prot paladin that can single-handedly carry people through content and solo most of the trash helps. A lot.

Ok cool, now I personally have little experience with Ulduar hardmodes, but I hear they increase the drop rate of the frags. How tough are the early hardmode bosses / is it worth it to try and slap together a group to do just the early bosses? Logically / practically speaking, I know those are strong points for you lol

XT and Hodir are easy. Iron Council medium mode is easy but I don't know if the drop rate increases on medium mode. All the other hard modes are not puggable, except perhaps Vezax and FL with high end gear.

Thorim HM is also likely pugable as the mechanic changes are easily bruteforced by gear.

Honestly, I have NO idea how to do this - I mean I can mention that they can get achievements/gold, but that kinda makes it seem like it's in my interest and they would get a little something for their time, as opposed to it being in their interest.

Kinda like those who do the psychology experiments on psych students - they get extra credit / $10 max, and the experimenters get their tests done. It's more in the interest in the experimenters imo
