If WoW has a buttload of subscribers, you can't say that MMOs are a dying genre. There's a lot of people who like WoW, but are really tired of Blizzard's bullshit. If Rift=WoW, it scores points just for no Ghostcrawler+Blues and rehashed content, among other things. If I were interested in playing again, I'd hit Rift in a hot minute...or wait for SW:ToR.
