You wanted to know why the pathing and movement was terrible in GW1. I told you why it is server based but you can keep denying it all you want. I meant player collision as in Player-Player, which is why I stated pvp specifically.

None of the random things you said addressed the issue.

Collision is switchable in both games so that is not a valid basis for a distinction, all the more so because WoW moved to the GW1 model briefly and became just as bad even with collision mostly turned off. Humping an iceblock or another player are both easier in WoW than GW1.

Same with click-to-move. It can be turned on and off in both games and it sucks in both games for the same reasons, and has nothing to do with the problems regarding latency (which are due to poor programming and server hardware).

You dodged my question about the purpose and nature of rubber-banding so I'm going to assume you just don't understand.

"Zomg pvp" has nothing to do with anything and is just an attempt at "I'm awesome so whatever".

But we're getting into petty nonsense.

Bottom line is, Anet hasn't provided a reason for anyone to objectively believe that they can make a game as fluid as WoW. Nothing you've said or that I've seen about the GW2 beta changes that.

Turning off click to move in GW1 doesn't remove the game depending on the server entirely where you are positioned which causes rubber banding when the client shows you as 10 feet forward. WoW is giving you the benefit of the doubt that the client is right. Again, different setups for different games. It isn't dodging the question of rubber banding. Why don't you go ask ANet why they did it instead?

It's impossible that Anet made a flatly wrong decision, I know.

Bias, QED. I rest my case. Next!

I don't think you realize how much I don't care for GW1. They are not the same game and have two completely different goals.

insert wikipedia link describing something about how something is wrong because it is different that what I've used before

That's an opinion I'd trust, because he's PvP'ed as a rogue.

I don't think I'm supposed to be able to log on to the Beta forums, since I'm not in this Beta release and I have not pre-ordered yet >.> I had to attempt log in like 3 times then it gave me an apology message listing a bunch of reason's why it might be trying to keep "you" out, none of which was "you shouldn't be here!"

Anyhow most of the rogue feedback seems to go along the same veins as before, GG being a melee class and not being able to cast(some things) while moving? As people run out of range as you cast, I can just imagine server lag making that feel horrible. Like when I interrupt a sheep in WoW, get sheeped and have my Wind Shear put on CD(and then get sheeped out of that sheep because it's still on CD). But I'm not really looking for PvP out of MMO's anymore since it seems to suck hard core in all of them(what is this "balance" you speak of?).

There is also more feedback about the (human?)starter zone still not having enough XP in it but not seeing it first hand it's hard to know.

A Mod on leveling->
Quote:
Leveling curves have been designed to take four main systems into account – renown hearts, dynamic events, overall map completion (exploration) and personal story.

The more I look at this game(and feedback about it) the more it seems like an achievement hunters dream. Even the "End Game", the rewards they have talked about so far seem to be different skins for gear. I like the idea of doing challenging content for the sake of doing challenging content, but if the reward for a certain instance is unlocking a set of pirate gear then there isn't a whole lot of incentive to go back to that place after you have it unlocked, or maybe it's the GW2 version of transmog and you have to get a piece of gear for every slot from the dungeon?
Either way I think the combat is cool and different(though it kinda feels like single target D3+dodge) so it would be a bit of a let down for me if the game is about walking around and exploring and collecting vanity gear, since achievements/mounts/pets/funny looking holiday gear are the parts of WoW that I could care less about >.>

Other thing that worries me is the "games are for having fun so play the way you want to play" "millions of ways to play" thing. Now I'm not one of those people that thinks there is a "wrong way to play" a game, but I do not think all ways are/should be created equal. It's when devs try to make every path within the game end in the same place that you end up with shit like what WoW has become, WoW was a lot of fun for me in vanilla w/o setting foot in a raid or a BG because the content was paced incredibly well. There was so much stuff to do with just 5mans with collecting 8/8 T0 upgrading it to T.5 doing fancy mount quests. On the flip side doing just 5mans is shitty as hell now because the gear scales to the point that you can afk your way through them. So I guess I'm just hoping they leave well enough alone and let the different parts of the game be different(maybe the on the fly char scale ing will accomplish this.

Oh damn baseball game is starting, WTB more feedback because I'm really bored today.

I don't know about you guys, but between TOR and WoW I'm completely burnt out on MMOs. Torchlight 2's now on steam for prerelease.

I watched some GW2 streams here and there. I must say, the one thing that I saw and instantly hated was the walking. It looks clunky and shit, just like TOR. Doesn't seem to have the smooth walking in terrain like WoW has.

The walking is weird because you need to hold down the hotkey to walk, instead of just toggling it.

R was the default bind for auto-run which I quickly changed to a mouse button. If you spam your strafe keys while running you do slide around though.

I found out that you can pick up the banner from the Warrior elite skill and stab people with it and give out sprint buffs lol.
