The biggest problem with the abortion debate is that pro-lifers have no idea what they are talking about. These are the people who show many images of late late term abortions and argue that all abortions should be banned. Over 98% of abortions occur before the 21st week which is the generally accepted period at which the fetus can be considered viable. Only .17% of abortions occur using the intact dilation and extraction procedure which is what fuels pro-lifers pictures of fetuses that have been aborted. Nearly all these cases are because the mother's life/health is very likely to end/deteriorate. Of course pro-lifers do not think about science, facts or anything else. They think HOW COULD YOU KILL A BABY!!! And that is where the discussion ends. They aren't rational, they don't know the facts, they don't even use the left portion of their brain. It's a shame that people don't do some research on their own instead of just repeating the party line but what can you really expect from a group of millions of people that has a collective IQ of 12.

I think it's priceless that anyone would complain about "using social issues to distract from real issues" when they belong to/most closely agree with the political party/movement that will only discuss social issues while ignoring real issues.

I wasn't anyone was complaining that social issues were distracting from 'real' issues, since social issues generally are (or are related to) 'real' issues. If any conservative is making that complaint, it's probably the ones that the "religious right" already hate who don't want to have to say something like "how can we say we want government out of people's lives then insert it in such incredibly personal decisions as marriage and abortion?" during a primary where the fundamentalist retards are one of the deciding factors.

Your Pal,
Jubber
