Agreed, Tehra...though my Anger Management therapist is pretty damn cool, and has a way of making learning about the roots of emotion very interesting. I enjoy going in to see him, which is so not like me at all.

Anger is an interesting emotion. Especially since it can be sparked or fueled by any variety of things. That, and it's one of the hardest to channel effectively.

I put points into Anger Management and then they made it baseline.

Television/DVDs are not babysitters/parents. It is proven that children playing will concentrate on play for a shorter time span, will complete play tasks less well (or not at all) and will use less imagination if a TV is on, even if the programming is not something that interests the children. If you play music at low volumes, it will contribute to an active mind, as well as introducing your son to a love of music. This is not to say that you should treat the TV as a disease; just don't depend on it too much for breaks.

Also, your kid will eat if he's hungry. No need to force-feed him.

Totally agree, people underestimate some studies out there that have proven awesome for my son.

He has listened to classical music of different varieties every night at bedtime since he was a baby, and is well ahead of the learning curve. It could be a parental bias, but he's been walking since before he was 1 and can carry on a conversation about all types of things with some pretty damn good pronunciation. I look at other kids around his age and they are no where near the level he is, maybe it is just coincidence but I would tend to think not.

I hate to say it Eturnal but there is no one size fit all for parenting, like most have said you'll do fine. The first day I saw my son was the happiest/scariest moment in my life. My biggest suggestion is have patience it will be your number one friend throughout this.

As Boredalt said and Bane said be good to your wife (not saying you aren't) most women go through some for of depression and or emotional anxiety after giving birth. Her hormones will be out of whack etc......

Also, not sure how it was for others but sometimes just listening to the child you can get the feeling of what they want/need. It's a parental instinct you either have it or you don't and from the excitement/scared reactions I would say you will do great. Love that baby as much as you can......and then love him some more it's the best medicine there is.

You can try the alternating getting up with the baby but I found myself shooing my wife back to bed while I got up with the baby 9 of 10 times even after working 15+ hour day/night. A kid is the greatest gift in the world if you ask me, it is also a huge responsibility, he depends on you two for everything.

TLDR - Patience, Sleep when he sleeps, Take care of wife, Kids are WIN
