I think there is some "pressure" on women in a relationship. But really...it's quite possible to be married, have a kid, AND be a career woman. Hell, I work with this lady who is like 35, married, has a daughter, is successful, and also a complete MILF.

I don't understand this fear of commitment though. Like with this one girl Rachael...I straight up told her I'd never stand in her way in terms of her educational/career goals. I stand by that statement, and wouldn't change my tune. Yet she balked because she "wasnt ready" for a "serious relationship"

I took it to mean what it was...she didn't want to work on it...she didnt want to have to worry about anything other than school.

Here's the thing:

I don't want some trophy girl to follow me around like a puppy. No, I want someone who will be the Scottie Pippen to my Michael Jordan...my teammate who I can have success with. Someone who will make me a better person, and enrich my life, while I do the same for them.

Basically, I want a best friend and companion, who I can have sex with from time to time. I guess this is a scary desire for women?

No.

@Usd, you implied that it was for promiscuity's sake, which I find somewhat insulting, but I agree that promiscuity can definitely (and generally does because we all have those urges) emerge from long periods of not being in a serious relationship.

it is for promiscuity's sake.

being married doesn't mean you're chained to the stove, barefoot and pregnant.

anyone who doesn't want someone else in their life is either A) selfish and don't want Man A getting in the way of Man B or B) too shy/insecure/whatever to allow someone else in. Or they're Aestu.

Read any sociological journal article on what marriage/a serious relationship does to a woman's ability to maintain upwards progression in a career, and you'll take that statement back.

It might not chain you down literally, but there are serious implications on career progression. And yes, of course there are outliers, but for the average woman working in the cooperate world, the moment you get married is pretty much when your chances of upwards mobility end.

It has nothing to do with promiscuity. It has to do with not wanting the social burdens that come with being an attached woman. My sister doesn't want a long term relationship, and not because she wants to be a whore. She wants a solid career with out the pressure to drop out to take care of a home/children/etc. As my mom told the both of us, do that if you want to, but make sure to freeze some eggs.

Glass Ceiling/Mommy tax theory.

Not to say that everyone can do anything but it's been done before.
Either you put the effort forward to do so or you don't.
Yeah, it's hard. But tougher things have been accomplished by less privileged and frankly lesser men and women.

The key to success is, don't get pregnant at 18.

My girlfriend got pregnant at 18, with twins, and I'd wager she's one of the most successful mothers I know.

She has a fuckton of childcare experience beforehand though, and belongs to La Leche League and various mothering websites and boards. She is insanely knowledgeable and dedicated.

There are always exceptions to the rule. It's not 100% but it sure as hell makes some part of life more difficult. Especially for the majority.

Okay guys let's stop before Mayo or someone comes in here and starts spanking us all!

Back on topic:

I feel bad for women in general, but especially American women. I think they are generally crazy because way too much is expected of them.

1. They need to be educated
2. They need to have a career
3. They need to be strong and independent
4. They need to be sexual, but not so much that they are considered whores
5. They need to be mothers and wives, while holding down aforementioned career
6. They need to look pretty, but not be fake
7. They need to champion womens rights, but not be lesbian feminists
8. They are supposed to find a good man...but they are shown constantly how bad boys are more fun...and so they get treated like shit.

I could go on but I'm really depressed now with society.

ew, i don't want all that shit. i just want a woman who is semi-interesting, has similar interests, and doesn't have any glaring mental neuroses. i believe the latter is where they usually fall off the radar.

Verily, I have often laughed at weaklings who thought themselves proud because they had no claws.
