You don't like that a lifestyle you covet is being revealed as the criminal, thuggish sham it is.

It is more than a little upsetting that being a "cop-killer" is considered worse than being a normal murderer.

There's no hierarchy of personhood. A cop's life should actually be worth slightly less, because he assumes the risk per the terms of employment.

Dorner is dead. House burnt down around him, apparently, after an hour long "shootout."

Supposedly the cops burned the house down. He'd killed another one during the shootout, so they were antsy to get results, it seems.

EDIT: I think the real reason they burned the house down is that they were desperate to kill this guy before the investigation into the circumstances of his departure gains momentum.

It's possible that something else could have set the house on fire.

Maybe the guy did it(we never did establish if he was crazy, but he would have been desperate,) maybe a flashbang did it, or if what they are saying is true, there were thousands of rounds in there and a stray bullet cooked one off.

All are very unlikely, and I'd rather not believe that a police force burned down a house to kill someone, but it certainly wouldn't be the first time.

Still, they should be making a movie about this before long, knowing hollywood.

I would be VERY surprised if the police started the fire. Big Bear has a LOT of dry brush and I'm surprised that it didn't spread beyond the cabin. The guys up in Big Bear and Arrowbear are pretty nice and very careful with respect to wildfires.

They also had a bunch of news cameras on the scene recording the whole thing.

And those need crews picked up those cops saying stuff like "lets burn this motherfucker out" "we'll use the fire, like we planned"

there's a video and transcript of the police scanner floating around most major news sources. They set the fire.

The fire seems fishy ;[ pretty sure the LAPD said they weren't going to catch him alive and there is also a pretty extensive history of crazy/cult people being burned to death "by accident".

Cop killers don't often make it to a courtroom, as an unwritten rule. Very surprising though that they chose set fire to the house. Usually its a gun death.
