Whether or not one type is worse than any other type I don't know but the idea that sugar is sugar is sugar is stupid. . They are isomers of each other and this can lead to radical differences in their properties. Glucose stimulates increased insulin production while fructose does not. They don't interact with the exact same enzymes. They don't have the same "sweetness."

If you had said that the current hype around HFCS vs sucrose is inconclusive I could understand your opinion. However saying sugar is sugar is sugar is false.

Pretty sure I can tell the difference between milk and Gatorade. Just saying.

That's probably more accurate, Maz. I think some people are trying to shift blame to HFCS that really belongs to a lack of moderation and exercise. A lot of any one thing is generally terrible for you, and considering how much sugar (of all types), salt, and fat is in most of the processed food (that people consume in abundance) that makes up our diet, it's no wonder we're all a bunch of fat fucks.



Yet you routinely confuse apples and oranges. Isn't that odd?

Although every time I hear more Americans are becoming overweight, I get a chubby.

Hypothyroidism is a very real medical problem. If someone has a diagnosis for it (which is easy to do and determine) they most definitely are large because of their thyroid related problems. Just because you don't know the functions and locations of a thyroid does not mean it can't cause weight gain.

Why do people insist on posting wrong information.

Then they can take hormones and manage their diet/iodine intake and no longer be fat.

I drank a Mountain Dew today and felt so dirty.

Of course and if someone is saying they are fat because of hypothyroidism they will hopefully be doing that or in the process of doing it. The medications do not work immediately and symptoms of the low levels can continue for several months. Imagine the following situation you are fat for a long time due to hypothyroidism and are harassed by others because of it, then you go to the doctors and get diagnosed for the problem and go back and tell the haters hey I was fat because of my thyroid problems. Of course you will still be fat because you cannot take a pill and magically lose 30 pounds overnight. I read the post as someone who is fat is mad because other fat people found out theirs was due to something they were unaware of and now they have a treatment while said fat person will remain fat. Treatment will not always work due to genetic differences etc.

I dropped 30 pounds in 2 months.

At least in my case, it was up to me.

I was making fun of the fact that a lot of fat people refuse to take responsibility for their size, when often it's entirely a consequence of their actions (and in a sense, inaction). You can replace the thyroid part with fast food, video games, etc, take your pick.

I never said someone with a diagnosed thyroid problem has a responsibility issue. But someone who was diagnosed, probably (highly likely) learned from their doctor what the thyroid does. and the jist of what's happening in their body. Where an irresponsible person who doesn't want to admit it might claim it, but since...

Why am I even trying? If I have to explain something, then it's mission failed as far as jokes are concerned.

I really see what Jubber is saying now.

Clearly some of us need to be wary lest we offend the many and numerous fat people who have just started their hormone replacement therapy within the last two weeks.
