Yes, Tuhl, I know it sucks.

I got the PC version, and I got the bonus promo pack codes (all of them, from different sources). I can't seem to redeem them through Steam; it says the codes are invalid. I'm told this is a common issue. Then again I haven't finished downloading the game yet.

How do I get the codes to work? Is it done through Steam? Do I have to finish downloading the game before I can use the codes?

I don't use Steam often. Help?

PS: Reformatted PC. Much better performance.

New Vegas is significantly better (read: not total shit) than Fallout 3 Vanilla. Namely, it's set in the right part of the country and it's not driven by Bethesda's recent style of "throw everything cool and vaguely referential to the previous games at the player at fast as possible and in so doing dull down the experience and utterly destroy any sense of wonder."

Because Obsidian makes good games.

It's certainly no Fallout 1 or 2, but it's way way way way better than Fallout 3.

Redeem the codes in game somewhere? Never played it or had anything that used codes or keys so I can't help much.

Might be done through game. But the packs aren't really necessary anyway.

I finally just downloaded the packs from Torrent. No activation is actually required for the PC version.

I had bought them on eBay - waste of $60 - I'll just resell them right back.

I see what Tuhl means. NV is a lot more open-ended and it has that spawling feel familiar to the West. The improved itemization helps a lot. One thing I don't like is how much of the game is spent ferrying stuff around or how ridiculously easy it is to acquire vast amounts of currency in the very early game (while there are very few vendors). However, the game is very unstable and the itemization is not well documented within the game itself. It doesn't feel balanced.

Don't get Sierra Madre then.
I still haven't sold all of the loot from that expedition.

If tuhl and I were in fallout and got turbo dosed by radiation our beards still wouldn't fall out.

I would love to be a ghoul - long life, reduced appetite and thirst - that's, to me, more than a fair trade-off for the physical deformation.

There's Witch Doctor.

It's not the same, granted.
