Jury duty is something I'm not sure I want to be randomized for.
I enjoyed the experience, but I didn't have to sit in the jury room for more than 3 hours all week (and even then I just read so it wasn't that bad).
I am also in a union, and we get paid a full week's pay when we have jury duty.
Now, Federal jury duty is a different matter. I was selected for that in January and got very lucky that I didn't have to serve. Cases could be all at once affairs, or you could be driving to the courthouse once a day every two weeks for months and months.

I know a guy who has been picked for Jury Duty 3 times and never had to actually serve. During the screening process he always makes it a point to come off as super racist.
The trials are entertaining. I don't know what kind of fool would rather sit in a stuffy room doing nothing for a week than be on a jury for a few cases.
