I love this move and I think they should be allowed to be their own state. If we can support Israel kicking people out of their homelands based on ancient bullshit written in the Torah, then we can somewhat rectify this situation by supporting Palestine's bid to become its own state.

We won't though, because too many powerful Jews have ties and allegiance to Israel in this country.

I would like to point out that most of them left willingly fleeing the war.

US will veto statehood, Palestine will turn to the General Assembly and they'll pass a resolution granting observer state status regardless because Palestine has enormous support in the GA.

We'll see how long it takes my grandfather to call my dad to tell him to rein me in for mentioning 'Israel' and 'apartheid' in the same sentence.

The sad thing is that so many people support Israel and allow them to continually oppress anyone who isn't Jewish. The fact remains, if you are in Israel and not Jewish, you are a second class citizen.

I like how all the blame for what's going on now gets heaped on the Jews in Israel and everyone overlooks how the entire situation wouldn't exist if Europe wasn't such a fucking hotbed of Antisemitism.

The big news here should be how Iran pushed Obama's speech at the UN to page three status by choosing the day/time of his speech to release those two hikers. That overshadowed Obama's speech, the brunt of which was that the UN should step back and let Israel/Palestine work things out before any official recognition for Palestine occurs, and I'm sure they did that on purpose since they're officially of the opposing view that Palestine should just be recognized now.

I have no idea how they can solve this issue because while there's good people on either side, the herpderps keep ruining it for everyone.

Because like every country, the good people are the ones without the power, the herpderps are the ones in charge with nothing to gain and much to lose if peace were to break out.

Someone mentioned on my FB post regarding this that even if this officially ends the apartheid/Palestians regain their stolen statehood, there will still be bigotry and animosity. If you believe this, there's an Amazing PBS PoV where they take Israeli and Palestian youth and have them debate and discuss everything. It's vey telling and well worth the watch.

foreign aid needs to be left up to the public, not the government. Especially governments that have no money in the bank.

US Gov gives as much foreign aid to Israel's enemies, as it does to Israel, that it doesn't even make any sense. SO many americans love Israel and give towards it, let alone to other countries more than any other people in the world. Can we please get out of debt first before using tax dollars for everyone BUT americans?

Cut Israel loose. Draw arbitrary but fair borders. Force both sides to accept an arbitrary but fair permanent settlement or have foreign aid withheld. Demolish the fortifications and ghetto walls and force them to live together, redistributing land at the individual level.

If it were up to me? I'd simply expose an Israeli spy in the American government, make a bunch of provocative statements about Israel then catch a Mossad agent red-handed doing something unethical, then use it as a pretext to declare war, appoint a military governor, demolish the Wailing Wall, and build a new structure on the premises.
