I have very vivid dreams.
Last night I dreamed I was travelling with my family through a real-life game of sorts; we were going somewhere, and had to pass through a series of challenges delivered by typewriter-like printing machines in credenzas. Most of the action took place in indoor areas that looked like drawing rooms transposed into a particular Sacramento mall.
This one challenge told us that to proceed, one had to be sacrificed. Of course, with a deathwish, I took it up and walked out of the room to the place specified by the instructions.
At that point I had a flash of lucidity and realized I was dreaming. I suddenly felt that the dream was allegorical to something else that I had forgotten. I spent the rest of the dream furiously trying to remember what it was. I remembered The Road. Star Trek DS9 "Move Along Home", and the myth of Electra, but I kept feeling there was something else I was forgetting.
Right before I had gone to sleep, I'd eaten a large serving of pasta with olive oil, parmesean, scallops and sea salt, and I had already been dehydrated. Those foods tend to cause vivid dreaming, and dehydration tends to cause memory failure. Still, what endured, was that feeling of dissatisfaction at feeling there was some allegory I couldn't recall.
Aestu of Bleeding Hollow... Nihilism is a copout.
