You remember me complaining about that cop who was harassing me when I went to take out my trash. Well, like I said, after the incident, I went and called up Internal Affairs and complained. This was...several months ago. I stopped thinking about it.

Today, I got a letter from Internal Affairs, with no information other than the case number and a notice that they were continuing to look into it and would keep me posted.

I was surprised. I expected they'd have already done their thing, got the info down, and moved on. Honestly I was so jaded even at the time I didn't expect they'd actually care. Why are they sending me this notice now? Why are they still looking at the issue? Are they just glacially slow or is there more to it?

What would your interpretation be?

I should probably point out that I'm just an applicant to my local PD, and in no way have access to the intricacies YOUR PD, which is more metropolitan and populated.

Still, they have to make some paperwork appear to at the very least cover their ass, if they ever did anything.

My guess is they called him in their office and asked him what happened, which, since you don't have any proof and the burden of proof is on you, nothing will happen.

the delay could be explained by paperwork + scheduling conflicts + previous caseload + bureacracy. Thats my take on it anyways.

Or that guy really is a jackass and everything has finally caught up with him and you are just another piece in the line.

This possibility occurred to me.

At least I made a point of punching my ticket rather than blaming myself and doing nothing.
