Alestorm is great stuff too.
Hearing the same regurgitated Youtube comment about how people think Swashbuckle is ok but they like Alestorm better makes me want to punch a baby.
They are completely different styles of play, just because they hold similar themes, does not mean they are in the realms of comparison.
It's like comparing Bathory to Turisas, or Ensiferum to Amon Amarth.
For the record, I prefer Swashbuckle, which is surprising to me given my fondness for folk metal.
But I also have a fondness for a satire of both pirates and the genre, as well as face obliterating speeds that actually contain a pinch of melody. Swashbuckle also chops up their albums with folkish interludes, all in all combined with the thrash songs, makes for an experience that makes me really want to play through the album as a whole.
Oh, and did I mention party boat?
PARTY BOAT! PARTY BOAT! PARTY BOAT!
If you are a fan of Alestorm (ok, duh, if you know who they are, you're probably a fan at some level), I recommend this from Swashbuckle, as it is not a thrash song, but has a heavy melody. No folk instruments though.
