There's been threads like this before on the BH forums, but it's probably long gone and even if it's not I don't want to dig it up. How'd you lot arrive at the name you're currently using, is it a handle from previous games, etc.

I'll start.

Yuratuhl - pretty obvious joke, Imatuhl and I were joking around before this game came out about a troll tribe using the suffix -tuhl so naturally we all made trolls once we got the chance.

I wanted Cosette, which is the name of the female lead...but of course it was taken.

I have told this story a few times but most of you may have not heard (except maybe Quadtard). I started my gaming with good old D&D for years and my preference were caster classes. When Guild Wars came out you could have multiple part names. I had recently made a thief in D&D named Cydor. Cydor was an ad program of the time that would put a cute little crocodile on top of your browser that would record all of your information, I was a computer salesman and this was my push for antivirus programs with high gross margin. My first character ever, who I would delete was a nelf hunter, I amost immediately made Cydor, human warrior that still exist at level 5 on some dank dark server. In Guild Wars I had made a necro ranger named Cydor of the Leaf. I heard locks were fun to play so I decided to make one. Cydorleaf sounded kind of odd, and I was watching Batman and Robin, the one with Arnold as a horribly Mr Freeze. The scene where the mad scientist makes the Bane character was on, "Baneleaf, that sound kinda cool" and almost four years later, he is still here. The .....leaf name style lasted for a while until Hordebaite was born, then a few fun names but Baneleaf is still around.

Leiferikson is my great [x6 i think] grandfather on my father's side. incidentally, on my mother's side i am a descendant of Eric Haraldsson (Eric Bloodaxe) the second king of norway, who's son supposedly murdered Leif Erikson for denouncing Odin in favor Christianity.

Zaigaz is an obscure character in Snorri Sturluson's Prose Edda. Zaigaz was a valkyrie who loved Odin fiercely, and when Frigg discovered this she had Zaigaz beheaded.

Dotzilla is a play on my name "Dotz" when i played CS 1.6 for 4 seasons of CAL-i

Pondfiller is a professional CS 1.6 player

Came up originally as Zaryyi and I didn't like it, so lopped an y off. I've grown very, very fond of it since.

Weena is derived from Nidorina, which is my priests name. When we joined ATLC/GLP, they started calling my priest Nidoweena.

How did we become Pokebros?

Well, about an eon ago, when we were wee laddies (Meowth and I), we played a game called Runescape. It's a crazy little MMO that is played right in your browser window.

We wanted our names to coordinate in some way, to show we were bros slapping dicks. Around this time, the new Pokemon movie was being advertised, which had the weird ass Jirachi featured in it.

So, we used the same name, save for numbers: Jirachi45 and Jirachi44. I named my character originally, and Meowth followed, the 45 is there because I had the jingle for the channel 45 stuck in my head.

I stopped using Pokemon names as I went into GW and eventually WoW, but Meowth stayed true. Later on I decided to return to such naming style, to emphasize we were still slapping dicks.

After that, all characters were named after Pokemon.

"Aestu" really was a combination of random syllables.

So was "Fyrei".

Then, one day, I Googled "aestu" and learned what it meant.

reefus - pretty sure i was just stoned and was like "lul it kinda sounds like pot"

dek - name from previous games. my name is dan (not daniel, just dan) so i've had an affinity for single-syllable names and names that start with a d.

kont - people always tripped up saying "dek" on vent and ended up saying dick. so i figured i'd give them something to really screw up. it worked.

and now the super-secret reveal...

buttz (chogall) - i wanted to reply to a post from rikkilake saying "i likes you too". so i did.

Akina: bitch I will stab you in the face

Kamguh - Originally was Kamgha which came from the blizz name generator (i might've done some editting...) the change to guh at the end was because it sounded the same when said on vent

Arraken - Dune novels, the planet is named Arrakis, so I'm an Arrakeen (name was taken so i removed 1 e)

Damon - originally named Dæmon and was forced change by GMs back in early vanilla during the massive name changing time when wow was still new (01/2005 ish timeframe)

Squeaddise (my rogue) - was a joke to one of my old GMs, who made fun of me for making Kamgha from the random name generator, so i tried to find the most messed up name possible to anger him.

Wadka (my hunter) - We had someone in my guild who couldn't say vodka and said it as Wadka... hence the hunter name

Daruz - originally Darus, meant to be Darius but that was taken on my original server, and Darus was taken on BH when i did the xfer

Callysta is actually the second half of my first name IRL I had never played a game requiring me to name a character, so during Beta I just chose my name.

On release someone used my name, so I subbed the "I" for a "y." And I don't really do alts

Spacehunter: Obvious. I also had Spaceshaman reserved pre-BC but i deleted that and gave my Shaman a more serious name since i decided to reroll shaman for TBC.

Goibon: Basically an ode to Calx. It might be the greatest word ever. Being Goibon is almost as great as being Spacehunter was.

Townsend: Devin Townsend.

Cosmina: I wanted something eastern european which had a spacey sound to it. Was pretty happy with it. I think it's romanian. I was trying to get a translation of Spaceshaman initially (i remember doing this at the university labs instead of studying). Some options were like Cosmoxama which i didn't like.

Dixie: This priest used to be called Lilium (cruentus) but that name was taken here so i just started typing in random shit. I was listening to the DKC2 soundtrack so i was like OH LETS TRY DIXIE and it worked. I was pretty surprised, had a good cackle. I had no intention of actually naming my Priest Dixie but whatever.

Lucette: It sounded french and all my toons had foreign names at the time. My Druid was called Arturo, who i named after some guy who wrote one of the books i was using for a paper.Arturo Valenzuela i think his name was.

Laetitia: Now Goibon Version2. Named her after Laetitia Casta. Some other jerk now has this name on BH and i was sad about this for all of a day.

Brassiere: Random dickfucks on alliance side will tell you that this is FRENCH FOR BRA. Whoddathunk? Dumbshits.

Decimo: Visiting family when I was younger in Italy, they lived in Azzano Decimo, I remembered and liked the sound of it.

For some added irony, I was ten at the time.

Roxanne - 3 years ago when I decided to make a paladin, I wanted a female character. Roxanne was the first female name that popped into my head at the time. No i was NOT thinking about the song and in no way shape or form named it after said song.

Skahr - My 1st character name. It was actually selected by my BFF Nip (Owenmcburly, aka Wesleysnips aka Scumholesnip aka Chocolatenip)

Wachoviabank - bank alt named after RL bank of choice.
