final fantasy sucked after 6.


7 was ok, 9 was decent, fuck the rest.

musically peaked at 4
full plateau after 7 changed the rules
downward trend with 9
bottom out at 10
debatable upward trend with 12 (confusing attempt to wean off the disney adventure archetype)
masterpiece of redemption with 13

gj shoes. was signing up for beta until i learned its the same races in this game as in the last, aka humans vs sea of furries. admittedly a good concept for an MMO.

My favorites are 8 and 9, and 12 is growing on me the second time through. 6 couldn't hold my attention, and I've never played 5. 13 was awful and I only played it because it was Final Fantasy and I've played all but one or two of them including the weird spinoffs (Tactics/Adventure/Crystal Chronicles etc.)

So call me a blasphemer but I like (prefer?) the new ones. Sure they were revolutionary and way ahead of their time but my first console was a N64 in 1995 so I guess I missed the boat on all of those.

I'm a fan of FF IV just because I'm a traditionalist.

I don't really like Final Fantasy. My favorite jRPG is Skies of Arcadia, and the protagonist isn't enough of a whiny bitch girl to be a FF protagonist.

I'll save my commentary since this thread is about FF after all. The only one I full-cleared was 8, which I preferred because it had a broken combat system that was exploitable rather than the elements people typically like FF for (story, etc). Music is always good of course.

If destruction exists, we must destroy everything.
