i am stuck in a shitty motel room in miami near ryder trauma center. today i treated 6 gunshot wounds, 1 stab wound, and 3 blunt traumas. i have no friends, no one to call, and this terrible internet barely allows me to browse the web. so i am stuck here in the alone zone. wat do?

Strip nude or keep your boxers on if you must, make a cape and a hat out of the towels in the bathroom. Leap dramatically from one motel bed to the other recreating classic sword fights from the 1938 Adventures of Robin Hood or from The Three Musketeers (1948). Use objects in your hotel room as props when appropriate. Don't underestimate the power of dramatic lighting, either.

I just sat down after doing that for a few hours just now, actually.

This thread is actually kind of funny to me, because the challenge you face is known to me only because I hear others describe it. I simply don't feel loneliness. Being alone for days or even months causes me no discomfort, but I am aware that others would find it very unsettling.

I don't really understand how people feel that way, tbh. I guess it's like munching on a food you like and wondering why your peanut-allergic friend is in hives.

Once my father said, "It will be hard for you, being alone in your apartment." I replied, "No, I don't get lonely." There was a silence on the other end of the phone. "Everyone gets lonely, Ethan," he said, deadpan. I made no reply but was thinking, "man, you really don't know your son well." Funny enough, two different landlords have complained about my incessant pacing.

My advice to you is to rationalize it away. Analyze the feelings you have and try to define them in logical terms. It's like shining a flashlight on a shadow.

Not really. It's one of those needs that is filled only because it was created in the first place. When I haven't had the internet available, I simply...pace and brood...for very long periods.

I pace when my friends and I are talking! There's like 7 of us pacing in a line from room to room. Sometimes the same conversation is taking place in 3-5 different rooms.

That and yeah, can't stop pacing when I'm on the phone. Sometimes I get into what I can only describe as a jog. It's like I'm trying to get away from the fun but failing.
