Stay at home dads

I always thought something like this would be neat, let the woman bring home the paycheck and I'll sit at home and play with the kids! I think I'd prefer a kinda 50/50 deal, though I'm not sure how well that would go with the kids, all depends.

Reading this article, I never realized all the little things stay at home dads have to put up with and the risk it can put in your relationship, so now, I don't know.

Being a dad must be awesome, regardless.

Thoughts?

I am not a stay at home dad, not because I wouldn't be if possible. My wife just isn't in a position to supplement the income I bring in. I have asked her on several occasions if she wanted to switch roles, she didn't

Honestly I can see how it would be emasculating, but then again I do a lot around my household. I cook,clean, pay bills, work, take care of my son and work on the house. I don't do it all myself of course but I would say we both equally pull our own weight.

Well, in the begining of time, women simply weren't physically equipped to handle "bringing home the bacon" while men on the other hand were.

Now, more and more jobs can be done equally as well by a woman as opposed to a man. I'm actually pretty sure there's more jobs that only women can do than jobs only men can do. Not to mention the job market is more friendly towards women, even if the work enviroment is not.

I might be bias'd due to the number of kids, but right now I watch four siblings after I get home from work/they're home from school, and on my days off. Younger brother/sister, and two stepbrothers.

Honestly I never want kids for the rest of my life as soon as this arrangement is over. I'm proud to say I wouldn't make a terrible father, but fuck this to hell and back.

Sister is 8, brother is almost 7. Two stepbrothers are 7 and 4.

Kids are the most rewarding, beautiful, loving, suffocating, aggravating, never-ending, life-altering experience of your life. Anyone who thinks the stay-at-home parent has it made has never done it. Properly attending to children is work, and... it's important work.
