TLDR version:
It's been fun. See ya.
Long version:
About a week ago, following up on a post by Excessive Gaming offering to sell the Invincible, I made an account on their forums to find out more details. I didn't make any posts, and there wasn't any information to be found, so I shrugged and moved on.
A few days later, I received a tell asking if my intent had been to app. I said no, I was looking for information about buying the mount. I was told the price was US$1500 or 500k gold - completely beyond my means, and I said so. The conversation continued in the direction of my potentially joining. Apparently, he'd gone through recent new forum registrations and put my name in armory, and from there had actually gone through our guild forums and WMOs - he knew exactly what I'd been doing on specific encounters. I was told they needed a prot paladin, and encouraged to app. I said I'd think about it.
The next morning I got up, having slept on it. My first thought was to ask for an Invincible up front, claiming that I would be getting GS's first (untrue), then be as characteristically "Aestu" as possible after getting it, annoying my way out of the guild. Meanwhile, the plan went, I'd make a post on GS forums saying I would be on a three-day hiatus, and return after having obtained it. Before doing this, I decided to let the man speak, hear him out.
I had been thinking, that if progression itself was what drove me, and nothing else, I'd have left GS long ago. And besides, I could really go anywhere - Duriek, or mediocre players like Barnset or Allyxia had proven this abundantly enough. So why settle for Excessive Gaming if I could go anywhere?
I had been reluctant to leave because, to tell the truth, I've deeply enjoyed my time in Gwen Stefani, and I enjoy those I raid with, even if I don't completely get along with everyone all the time.
Amongst other things, the GM said, "Tbh, I hate this game as it is now. But I play because I enjoy logging on to play with those I raid with. And like you say, there comes a time where you've 'done everything you can' and perhaps it's time to move on. You come to EG, it's a tight-knit guild, you can make new friends, friends you'll have for years, and at the same time, down content, which is what we raid to do."
I thought about it, and I decided I really couldn't argue with this - so I scrapped my plan, and instead decided to accept the offer in good faith. I've enjoyed my time in GS very much, I've enjoyed raiding with you all, and I hope to maintain the friendships I've made here into the future. My RealID is

Good luck.
cutting out your email in case it wasn't intentional to re-list here, this place is a bit public.
