Today in WG, I was attacking an afk hunter. Literally standing still behind him. He dodged dismantle(prior to me knowing he was afk), and two envenoms.

This tells me that you either can dodge from behind(I've seen backstabs parried and dodged) or that you literally have to be at 6'o'clock on the dot to cound as behind your target.

Here, I prepared a bad 2 minute paint graph. Basicly how a typical encounter on my rogue goes.!

Players cannot dodge or parry from behind.

However, players can be Missed from behind. Dodges and misses both show up as Misses on the attacker's SCT, but Miss and Dodge are separate mechanics on the attack table.

Furthermore, WG is a high latency zone, and avoidance arcs are not where they appear to be in such an environment. Deterrence is on-use and therefore cannot have been in effect if the hunter was AFK.

Okay except dodges show up as dodges to me since I use default settings and no baddons. D: As I said though, latency couldn't have been an issue since we were both standing perfectly still.

It can always happen due to server-client latency, where you think you are behind him but Blizzard's server does not.

But yeah, players can't dodge from behind. Something else happened.

That's what they'd like you to believe, and 90% of the time is true. I just think they should open up what qualifies as "behind" a little more. Not so much that strafing is useless, but still. That or make it so rogue finishers can't be dodged videa baseline Surprise Attacks. Actually I guess it won't matter so much in Cata since rogues won't rely on control as much.

Yeah, avoidance arcs aren't a perfect 180 in PvE either. It's very erratic.

Strafing during Divine Storm spam = skill

Avoidance arcs are neither a perfect 180 nor are they even 180. The arc to dodge/parry certainly looks more like 220ish.

You can thank someone else for the saying. I only say it because it applies to almost everything. Along with "why be useful"

I think it was Fltwd. He was trying to make a point without actually explaining himself to any degree meaningful enough for his point to be made with any efficacy whatsoever.

In other words he was trolling you, bro.

I just noticed all of my double spaces after a period get reduced to a single space.

Well I understood that, I thought Meowth did and that's why he was saying it. Maybe I'm mistaken though.
