Edit: Only acceptable method of suicide is duct taping a funnel around your neck, filling it 1/4 of the way with gasoline, lighting it on fire and then QUICKLY slashing your throat so that you can drown in your own blood.

As awesome as this seems, I doubt those with private interests would allow something like this to happen. The auto industry is known for buying and dismantling public transportation to ensure the public reliance on the car. We also already have road systems laid down to perpetuate this.

As for fatties, they are only a barrier for say 10 years. I could see kids being really into these those (zipping around at high speeds on a pseudo roller coster while racing your friends? Fuck yea), meaning that as they grow up they continue to use this system allowing it to grow as the consumer base has established itself.

The guy who died WAS NOT the creator of the Segway, he was just part owner of the company.

This. If we can't even get streetcars in most cities, how are you expecting something where people actually have to put in effort to make it work?

There's laws against purposeful dismantling of a public good. The shit Ford tried with trains wasn't legal 150 years ago, much less today. You can't get streetcars because there's the subway and taxis, not because someone out there is going out of their way to keep the remnants of a San Francisco past off the streets. And yes, I have seen Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and even though I think it'd be awesome if streetcars still existed, I already just take the subway which is the same thing except it doesn't get stuck in traffic. Except with other subways.

Anyway, those pods remind me of the tubes from Futurama, so I support them.

Also, in Amsterdam, the streetcars have the right of way in every situation.
