For posting this in the rogue 4.0.1 FAQ shortly after it was posted by GC:

Quote:
From GhostCrawler

Quote:
Due to recalibrating expertise for Cataclysm, level 80-83 creatures (which includes bosses) dodge and parry less, so you need less expertise, 23, to be exact. Sorry we didn't announce this. I would classify it as an unintended consequence (though not unknown) and not a desired change on our part.

At level 85, you will need 26 again.

So the exp cap isn't a bug, and it won't be hotfixed.

Banned because someone had, less than an hour prior, posted it in another thread, which meant I was posting without "something new or interesting to say". Even though the exp cap was still improperly reported in that same thread because this information was so new.

Banned by Aldriana. Who, just a few hours later, posted pretty much the same information in the same thread. Followed by someone who linked to the quote I gave. Followed by someone asking about this information (which would have been 3 posts above theirs and readily available).

I guess I'm just saying I found a shittier mod than Blizzard mods, and I didn't think that was possible.

Chalk a new forum I've been banned from onto my list though.

Also, unrelated, but it seems as if Killing Spree might not be affected by Bandit's Guile.

GJ blizzard.

I stopped reading EJ years ago when it became a parody of itself....a bunch of circlejerking self-appointed elitists.

The last thread I read in-depth was the 50-page-monster attempting to use math to determine whether 12 agi was better than Cat's Swiftness.

I gave up on EJ when they stopped updating stuff regularly enough to justify me going to the website.

Probably 2 years ago.

I stopped reading that shit when I went to figure out how to gem a hunter, and shortly thereafter, I found out Muerte (a priest) knew more about gemming than their guide did.

I stopped reading their shit so early that I never started reading their shit.

Also, I'm related to a math masters and good friends with another.

I saw you posting a lot in the rogue threads, they ban for the dumbest shit. I think I signed a post once and got a 3 day ban.

Luckily shadow priests have their own website.

My last post on EJ was nearly 2 years ago, I used to browse it a lot at work. I only have 100 posts and most of them were just correcting people that were wrong and speaking like it was the truth.

Maybe things have changed in the last 2 years, but for me the pedants EJ were just too much. There are landfills of incorrect or useless information and discussion about the most insignificant details ever in 50+ page threads hiding the sparse but useful information it contains.

I would add to the "they are dumb" theme that they always math out theoretical dps, but they don't apply it to real situations.

I switched from 4/5 imp poisons and 1/3 vile poisons (their "perfect" spec) to 5/5 imp poisons and saw a big dps increase, mainly because their calculation assumed 100% uptime without moving or switching targets. There was no room for recurring ramp up times.

I usually go there to go there for a handy guide to what the hit cap is in rating points so I don't have to remember. Hence why I was trying to make sure they updated their exp cap info.

Much like a certain someone who had enough points in Prot to get Reckoning for their Ret build, I enjoyed screwing around with the talent trees to get results that were more tuned for the horrifically bad way I played, and never bothered with EJ. When I did finally look, most of what I found looked like crap, like Dek's example with the poisons. There was way too much theory crafting and not enough practical application. Which is probably why there were so many situational/RNG-reliant builds on that site. I could never understand the thinking that said you need to take "the points that give you the 15% dmg increase for four seconds if you happen to score a crit against stunned target while wearing gloves near a body of water seven days after the ides of March" talents over straight always active dmg increases.

Sites like that and the ensuing hate and discontent between internet heroes arguing about which site (or which post to a single site) was right is probably the real reason why Blizzard tried to stupid-proof the specs.

The druid community (restos, specifically because thats all I care about) has been pretty strong on EJ, and they have a lot of useful information. It is theorycrafting though, and by its very nature you make some assumptions about uptime, encounter mechanics, etc. The maximum theoretical DPS spec may not be the best for every encounter, but thats where the skill and ability of the player comes in to recognize that, and make a change accordingly. But I would hesitate to make the argument that the EJ knowledge base is a load of crap, as a lot of very talented players use it, and achieve very good results.

Muerte strangely knows a lot about every class.

I gathered quite a bit of knowledge from EJ when the patch hit for my holy paladin. Their paladin threads are reasonable and updated somewhat often. Then again, what I read on there ended not being what I decided on for a heal "rotation". Nevertheless, it gave me a good starting spot.

As far as my protection warrior goes. Their warrior threads are almost unreadable. A jumbled mess all thrown into two or three threads. There is some good and verifiable math to be found in there, but finding it wastes an amount of time equal to the time you could spend learning it for yourself. When Zorga had his spreadsheet updated, it was worth a read. Though really only relative to EH specs, it was still quality especially if you are the type of tank that doesn't care to understand WHY you are wearing a certain piece but just want to be told what to do. After the basic understanding of the class the best way to min/max and find out the math of your abilities is to just use world of logs and do it yourself.

All that being said, I do still go there on a regular basis to see some new posts or help out some people who are looking for answers.
